Julio Franco Relaxes at RedTail Mountain

AUGUST 21, 2007 MOUNTAIN CITY, TN - Major League Baseball's oldest active player, Julio Franco, visited RedTail Mountain this week for a relaxing round of golf. Franco was visiting a friend before hitting the field in September as an Atlanta Braves first baseman.
     While in Mountain City, Franco also visited with local fans, signed autographs and gave press interviews. Although golf may not improve his baseball game, it provided a quiet respite from the vocal crowds at Braves' stadium Turner Field.

     "RedTail was honored to host Mr. Franco for a round of golf," said Kevin Downs, development manager. "We hope our course continues to provide a special experience for special guests, as well as residents."

     Franco is the oldest regular position player in major league history. He began his career in 1982 as shortstop for the Phillies. He spent the past two seasons with the Mets and was recently resigned with the Braves, who are expected to call him up from the minor leagues when rosters expand next month.
